Associate Role

Hello and thank you for visiting this page.

I am hoping to appoint an associate educational psychologist to support my private practice, working with four mainstream primary schools in North Somerset and South Gloucestershire from September 2026, for a minimum of one academic year.

The commitment would be approximately 35–40 hours across the academic year and between the schools, so this may suit someone looking for a small amount of additional work alongside other roles, someone hoping to grow their private practice or just starting out.

However it is quite common that a little more time is requested if they run out of time and there is more need. I also sometimes get approached by other schools for ad hoc work that may also be of interest (should you want that).

I have a well-established practice and have been working with these schools for over ten years. My relationship with the schools is very positive and collaborative. I also work with another associate who has been supporting the service for the past five years in their own schools and will continue to do so.

In the schools we support, we work through a consultation model and observations in class. Assessments are not part of the usual work unless there are exceptional circumstances. The schools value this approach and would expect it to continue, so this opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working consultatively and collaboratively with school staff and parents.

I will manage the business and organisational side of the work, including maintaining the relationships with the schools. Associates are able to focus on the professional work itself. At the same time, I would expect someone who is comfortable working autonomously and independently within these schools, arranging their own visits, ensuring that reports are completed within the time frames and following the same ethos of BlackLight Learning around using consultation.

I also offer professional support where helpful, including supervision and the opportunity to discuss work or review reports if needed. Template consultation reports and consent forms will also be shared.

The schools are genuinely lovely to work with and I have really valued these relationships over the years but now I am looking for some additional support.

If you are interested, or have any questions, please do get in touch with me directly at [email protected] and enclose your CV with a brief explanation of why you find the role interesting, an anonymised consultation report / record and a bit about your interests (professional or personal).

The closing date for expressions of interest is 20th March, after which I will arrange a conversation with short listed candidates so that we can meet and discuss the role further.

The day rate is £450 based on a 6 hour day (£75/hour)

Warm wishes, Leona
